Having whitening teeth is the dream of everyone. Some people visit the dental office for this purpose, while others want home remedies and foods that fulfill their wishes. This is the reason that we have designed this guide that discusses what foods help whiten teeth. There are many foods and drinks that naturally whiten your teeth. Some of them are mentioned below.

All of these foods help to maintain the protective layer on your white pearls, named tooth enamel. There is no doubt that there are many professional treatments that whiten your teeth instantly, but all of these treatments are expensive. The chemicals used during the process of teeth whitening also damage your gums, etc. Fortunately, you can whiten your teeth naturally without the use of chemicals. Let’s start to discuss the home foods that assist in whitening your white pearls.

What Foods Help Whiten Teeth?

Below, we have mentioned some foods that work to whiten your teeth. They may take some time but give results without any damage.

1. Strawberries

Strawberries are one of the good natural sources that whiten your teeth. It has malic acid, whose properties are the same as bleaching characteristics. It helps to lighten the tooth stain with the passage of time.

Furthermore, people who are suffering from dry mouth problems can also try strawberries for this complication. It also increases saliva production. In this way, one can save one’s tooth from decay.

2. Watermelon

The second food that is used for the teeth-whitening process is watermelon. This food has more malic acid as compared to strawberries. So, they also help to lighten the tooth stain and increase saliva production.

Some people also believe that watermelon has scrubbing properties. It is used for teeth scrubbing and lightening the yellow stains on teeth. Well, there is no scientific proof for it.

3. Pineapple

The third and foremost important food for teeth whitening is pineapple. There are salivary proteins that protect your teeth. In other words, we can say that your white pearls are covered with a layer of pellicle. This layer plays a vital role in avoiding tooth staining. It absorbs pigments from food that cause tooth stains.

The pellicle layer not only gives a surface for different gums to stick to but can also result in plaque and tooth discoloration. Fortunately, pineapple is one of the foods that offers a natural solution.

This food contains bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme capable of breaking down proteins, including those present in the pellicle layer. By incorporating pineapple into your daily routine, you can leverage the enzymatic action of bromelain to dissolve the pellicle, preventing bacterial accumulation and promoting oral health.

4. Papaya

The following effective food for teeth whitening is papaya. It also has the same properties as mentioned above in pineapple. This also plays an important role in decreasing tooth stains, which leads to teeth whitening.

5. Milk

Milk is available in everyone’s home. It contains lactic acid that also plays an important role in lightening your tooth enamel. Furthermore, it has properties that protect your teeth against cavity-causing bacteria.

Some other dairy products, like cheese etc, can also play the same role as milk.

How Much Time Is Required to Get Results From Whitening Foods

Well, the answer to the above question is uncertain. There is no specific time frame that is proven scientifically. But all of these natural home remedies take some time to give results. The answer to the above question also depends upon the color of your tooth. If your white pearls are more yellow, then a significant period is definitely required to get results.

Final Words: What Foods Help Whiten Teeth?

Hopefully, this guide increases your knowledge about different types of food for the teeth whitening process. It is best to rely on home foods as compared to market chemicals. All of these chemicals are harsh and damage the tooth enamel with the passage of time. The foods mentioned above may take some time to give results but don’t have side effects.
