Koekelberg, Brussels Capital Region / Belgium - 10 23 2019: Panoramic view over Brussels on a foggy morning over Jette and Laeken

Brussels (Brussels Morning) Belgium woke up to the greyness on Monday morning before clearings gradually broke through the clouds in the north. The southern and western skies will remain congested until the evening.

The maximum will be between 2 and 7 degrees in a light wind, according to the morning forecast of the Royal Meteorological Institute.

The cloudy fields will dilute in the first part of the night to finally give way to a few banks of freezing fog, the minima will be between -7 and -4 degrees.

Temperatures for the rest of the week

It will still be cold when you wake up on Tuesday, the air will be loaded with freezing fog, sometimes tenacious. The sun will be more generous over the east and south of the country, but the temperatures will remain cold since the mercury will not exceed 3 degrees.

The weather will remain the same on Wednesday, while the sky will become cloudy again on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will soften, however, with expected maximums of between 3 and 9 degrees.

No snow this Christmas

An equally relieving and sad news comes during the Christmas time this year. No white Christmas this year, the mercury could even reach 10 degrees. Showers will be quite humid rather than tinged with flakes.

However, the temperature is expected to drop right after Christmas. With heavy rain expected right from the very next day, mercury is expected to drop to 3 degrees during the Christmas eve.

Winter Wonders 2021

A pleasant sight for both the locals and the tourists alike is the Winter Wonders festival, which is going in full swing in Brussels. With strict covid measures in action, the festival features various light and sound shows, the famous Christmas market and many other attractions.

However, visitors to the festivals are still advised to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of everyone else attending it. If you are feeling even the slightest systems of Covid-19, it’s always best to avoid social gatherings and ensure proper testing and treatment before going out again.
