Brussels, Belgium - July 17, 2021: protesters huddle together on a square in front of the Brussels central station to protest for freedom for all kind of people clenched fist.

Brussels (Brussels Morning) There will now be another demonstration in Brussels on Sunday by “Together for Freedom”, to protest against the corona measures. In the first place, the corona pass and mandatory vaccination are targeted. At a previous demonstration of this partnership on November 21, about 35,000 people showed up. Then there were heavy riots in the margins.

The manifestation “Together for Freedom” groups various organizations, such as Virus Madness, Fight For Freedom, The Human Side, Belgians for Freedom, and dozens of others. In November, it turned out that the core team behind the demonstration has ties to the extreme right.

The organizers are now calling on “anyone who feels something is not right” to join. In a press release Friday it is explicitly stated that it is a “peaceful meeting”.

“We are organizing a major manifestation on Sunday for constitutional freedoms and human rights. Under the name ‘Together for freedom’ we are denouncing freedom-restricting measures that have not been a structural solution for health care for a year and a half and are no longer accountable,” the press release said, according to the report by BRUZZ.

‘A and B citizens’

According to the organizers, the current measures lead to polarization in society and a division into A and B citizens. Fundamental rights that have been fought for so long are being made conditional by this government.

The organizers want to make the abolition of the corona pass and a “wider scientific sound” in the GEMS, by also allowing other visions. “Politics should connect instead of divide.”

Internal order service

The demonstration will start on Sunday at 12.30 pm at the North Station (Starbucks, at the intersection Simon Bolivarlaan and Vooruitstraat) in Brussels. It is not clear how many protesters are expected.

To ensure that everything runs smoothly and to prevent possible riots, several meetings have already been held with the Brussels police services, including about the route and the fact that the organization must provide an internal security service. “We will also provide staff ourselves to frame the demonstration,” said the spokeswoman for the Brussels police on Friday.
