On the night of December 31 to January 1, the metros and trams of the Brussels public transport company will run until 2 am. The night buses run until 5 am, with an increased frequency. The entire STIB network is also accessible free of charge from midnight.

Travelers can use the four metro lines and all tram lines – including the shuttle buses of lines 19, 81, 82 and 92 – until 2 am, so that everyone can get home without any problems. The metro lines are being strengthened. The metro runs with a frequency of 1 metro every 7.5 minutes. Tram lines 3, 4, 7, 8, 25, 81, 92, 93 and 97 will also be reinforced.

Extended Night Shift And Free Transport

The Noctis night buses also extend the festivities, with the last departure from the center around 5 am, and with increased frequency. Lines N04, N05, N06, N08, N09, N10 and N11 run every 15 minutes and lines N12, N13, N16 and N18 every 20 minutes.

The entire STIB network is accessible free of charge from midnight until 5:30 am. The validation devices are taken out of use and the entrance gates of the metro and pre-metro open automatically, so that travelers do not have to validate.

Some 500 STIB staff members will be present to operate the metros, trams and buses that night, but also to ensure the operation of the network behind the scenes and on the ground.

Bus And Tram Diversions

The festivities also cause some interruptions and diversions on tram lines 92 and 93 and on bus lines 12, 34, 38, 54, 64, 71, 80 and 95. From 8 p.m., tram line 92 will be limited to Louise and will no longer continue to Botanique . Shuttle bus 92 will continue to run between Botanic Garden and Schaerbeek Station. Line 93 no longer runs between Louise and Botanique after 8 pm. The tram line does serve the other stops on either side of this stretch. Travelers can use metro line 2-6 between Louise and Botanique.

By bus, lines 38, 71 and 95 will be diverted from 2 p.m. between Central Station and Troon to enable the preparations for the fireworks on the Paleizenplein. From 8 pm, lines 54 and 71 will be limited to Porte de Namur and lines 12, 34, 38, 64, 80 and 95 to Place du Luxembourg.
