RWDM is not giving up on promotion dream yet

The Molenbeek football team will take on Seraing for the second time on Saturday during the jump-off matches. After a first defeat in the home game, RWDM has to come out of his pipe if they want to promote to the highest division of Belgian football. “We need revenge”

Saturday evening at 8.45 pm it’s time. Then RWDM plays against Seraing all or nothing for a place in 1A.

The home defeat of the inhabitants of Brussels last week (0-1) is no reason to panic, they keep a cool head. The loss is more of an extra source of motivation for the group of players.

“The players are absolutely not afraid, on the contrary, we need revenge . We have already proved this season that we were stronger on the move than at home, tomorrow will be no different,” said chairman Thierry Dailly on BRUZZ radio. The people of Molenbeken hope to turn the tide in Liège.

“We have been working on a more stable team. The core has become a lot stronger, not only because of the newcomers but also the more experienced players make us more solid” says Dailly. Under John Textor, the new owner of the club, Molenbeek brought Igor De Camargo and the youngest of the Hazard brothers, Kylian, to Brussels during the winter break. Textor’s ambitions are clear: RWDM wants to join the elite of Belgian football.

Seraing scored the only goal of the game just before half-time last weekend. This gives them more than just the home advantage. After a difficult season for Seraing, the question remains whether they can hold out against the Brussels team. “We were the stronger team, we had more possession and created more chances,” Seraing coach Jean-Louis Garcia said at a press conference.

Supporters

What Molenbeek can certainly count on on Sunday are the fans. In a sold out stadium, 1250 Brussels supporters come to cheer the team. “When the players took to the field last Saturday and all the supporters roared, it was a real peek-a-boo moment for me , that’s magnifique , ” said Dailly.

It has been exactly twenty years since RWDM last entered first class under that name.
