Today, the trial of the March 22, 2016 attacks marks the last week of victim testimony. Among others, the family of Lauriane Visart de Bocarmé, who died in Maalbeek, will testify. However, the Justitia site, where the trial takes place, was closed for a while this morning due to a police action. The courtroom therefore opened more than two hours later than planned.

Trial of the Attacks Of March 22,2016

The Justitia site, where the trial of the attacks of March 22, 2016 takes place, was closed for a while on Monday morning due to a police action. About thirty federal police officers have reported sick, so that the site could not be opened in a safe manner. This was reported by the police present.

The assize process had to resume on Monday at 9 a.m., with testimonies from victims of the attack in Maalbeek metro station. The site is normally accessible from 7:30 a.m., but on Monday it took until after 9:30 a.m. for attendees to gain access to the building. Those accused of the trial arrived at the site around 9 am, later than usual.

Agents are taking action in solidarity with two executives who were present at the trial almost every day and who were pushed aside. About thirty people have reported sick, it sounds. They therefore waited for reinforcements from Leuven.

The unions heard on Monday morning that this was a spontaneous action. It is not clear how the situation will evolve in the coming days.

The trial on the attacks of 22 March 2016 resumes today, Monday, after a session was not held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday due to the European summit in Brussels last week.

In the morning, the family of Lauriane Visart de Bocarmé comes to testify. The 27-year-old woman worked as a lawyer at the socialist health insurance company and had just asked on the day of the attacks to be allowed to start a little later because she was home late the day before.

Later in the day, the testimony of several victims who survived the attack on the metro, as well as a family who were in Brussels Airport at the time of the attacks, are also scheduled.

The testimonies of the victims will continue until Wednesday. On Thursday, various experts will testify in areas such as geopolitics, criminology and radicalisation. From April 3, two weeks have been set aside for questioning the accused.
