Brussels (BrusselsMorning) Anderlecht will have a temporary bus line from Monday. Line 90 is intended to improve mobility in the Beauty Square neighbourhood. The original lines 49 and 89 passing there will be rerouted so that adjustments can be made to the route to facilitate the passage of longer buses.
Due to a construction site in the Wayezstraat, several bus lines in Anderlecht have to detour. In addition, the commissioning of articulated buses on the busy lines 49 and 89 requires local adaptations to allow the passage of these longer buses.
Due to this work, the residents of the Beauty District can no longer rely on buses 49 and 89 to get around. To ensure that residents can still take the bus, STIB is putting a new bus line into service during these diversions: the temporary line 90.
From Jacques Brel to Peterbos
As reported by BRUZZ, the new line 90 connects the Jacques Brel metro station with the Peterbos Park, via the Beauty Square. From Jacques Brel, the buses will connect the stops Aumale, Broeren, Beauty, Jakob Smits (Obusstraat), Henri Rey, Paulsen and Peterbos.
For those coming from the Peter Boswijk, the buses run between the stops Paulsen, Jakob Smits (Prince of Liège), Beauty, Broeren, Aumale and finally Jacques Brel.
For those coming from the Peter Boswijk, the buses run between the stops Paulsen, Jakob Smits (Prince of Liège), Beauty, Broeren, Aumale and finally Jacques Brel. From Monday to Saturday, the line runs every 12 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the evening. On Sundays, the buses run every 15 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the evening.
Increase speed and regularity
The construction site in Rue Wayez will last until the summer of 2022. The works were necessary because the installations under the roadway (water, electricity, etc.) were in poor condition and the tram tracks had to be replaced.
The municipality of Anderlecht, the Region and STIB seized this opportunity to completely rethink this arterial road and improve public transport, thanks to improvements that will increase both speed and regularity.
The expansion of the capacity of bus lines 49 and 89 was also an essential measure. That is why articulated buses, which are larger than regular buses, are now running on these routes. More information about line 90, the route and the timetable can be found on the STIB website.
