New app will help wine professionals

Belgium (Brussels Morning), A young Walloon entrepreneur has come up with a new device to help wine professionals in Belgium and beyond.

Sébastien Demoustiez and his team say the wine app they have created will provide potentially invaluable support for professionals and, albeit indirectly, consumers.

Called the called “Winevizer” the device comes with a simple QR code through which the user can access a comprehensive wine list.

It enables the user to search for their particular taste preferences, the main character trait of a wine and possible pairings.

Demoustiez, who is in his mid 30s, says the app allows the user “to make a truly informed choice “ and find all the information about a particular wine which, in turn can benefit consumers and restaurant goers as they will be better informed about the wine they choose.

He adds, “This also saves time for the sommelier or waiter in a restaurant.”

He decribes Winevizer an interactive and intelligent digital application and stresses that it only for use by restauranteurs and wine sellers.

Demoustiez says he is proud that this is a Belgian application, created “thanks to an intelligence that is not artificial.”

Demoustiez, who heads up the start-up team, says the Winevizer app, costing as little as €250, can also be installed on a tablet

The businessman, who has clients in both Belgium and France, adds, “Via this app it is possible to do very detailed searches.

“For example, it enables the user to consult wines from a specific region and the best nectars that would best accompany good meat, fish or game.”

He stresses that the Winevizer app is not meant to replace sommeliers, wine merchants or wine bars.

“It is, on the contrary, designed to provide support to these professionals as well as to their end consumers.”

He goes on, “This interactive and intelligent digital wine application is in keeping with the times and is already establishing itself as a faithful and effective companion for restaurants and wine merchants.”
