Brussels (Brussels Morning) – The wisdom tooth removal may seem challenging. However, if you consult a good doctor, they can make things easy. When it comes to the wisdom teeth removal process it depends on how carefully it is done. It depends on how the wisdom tooth is impacting your overall health of the mouth. You can get wisdom teeth extracted at once without any difficulty. Avid exercise athletes are always eager to get back to their exercise routines. It is necessary to find out how quickly you can carry on with your physical activity. Many factors are involved when it comes to the healing process after oral surgery.

Is It Safe To Get Back To Physical Activity Right After Oral Surgery?

When you have had a wisdom tooth extraction surgery it may not be wise to start physical activity instantly. You need to consult your doctor before taking any such action. Whether you recover fast or slow will depend on many factors altogether.

If you jump back into intense physical activity too soon it can cause excessive bleeding. Moreover, it can make your healing process slower than usual. This can be extremely painful to wait for your activities to begin. It is best to go slow and start your workout after the healing process is complete. You must listen to the advice of your doctor before making the final move.

Why Do You Need To Rest After Wisdom Tooth Extractions?

Once you have had wisdom tooth extraction surgery it is time to become careful. You cannot let the healing process go slower and jump into physical activity. When you get this oral surgery the anesthesia may take a lot of time to wear off. It can make the patient extremely sleepy even after many hours of surgery.

As wisdom teeth are located at the back of your mouth, they can leave a bleeding socket. It is more like a wound that can take a lot of time to heal. You need to take proper recovery precautions to prevent blood clotting. If you don’t take proper care it can lead to further complications such as dry sockets.

When you engage in physical activity right after the surgery it will impact the recovery process. If you go into intense activity it can reduce the healing process. During the first 24 hours of the surgery, you will notice significant bleeding inside your mouth. You must keep a gauze at the site of extraction. It is best to avoid physical activity as it encourages blood clotting. The high-impact activities can be even more dangerous and will interfere with the process of healing drastically.

‍What Happens In the First 24 Hours?

When you have had oral surgery you will have to get general anesthesia. This is why you should refrain from getting into physical activity. Exercising can make you feel tired and it can be dangerous when you are feeling sleepy already. It is recommended to keep away from physical activity, especially during the first 24 hours.

Whether you have had a single procedure or had wisdom teeth removed, it is better to take rest. It is necessary to replace your gauze as it will be full of blood. You need to avoid heavy lifting and bending as it can increase your blood pressure. When your blood pressure rises it can lead to excess bleeding.

When it comes to lower wisdom teeth removal it is more complex. Moreover, it takes a lot of time to heal. In this situation, even 10 days are lesser for the recovery process. You need to consider all these factors before moving back into an intense routine.

When it’s Safe to Introduce Physical Activity after the Surgery?

Many people have this thought that when it will be easy to return to physical activity after oral surgery. However, it depends on various factors. It depends on how many wisdom teeth were removed or how involved the surgery was. Moreover, you have to consider the physical activity you are trying to do.

You don’t need to rush into physical activity right after the surgery. It is always better to go slow and start with a low-impact movement. You can start strength training that doesn’t include much running or jumping. If your upper teeth are removed you can move into an intense workout routine quickly. This happens to be a less traumatic experience for the patient.

When it comes to the upper wisdom teeth, you can engage yourself in lighter physical activities. It is best to carry out this routine within five days of wisdom tooth removal. However, you need to watch out for the signs like pain and bleeding. If you experience any discomfort during the exercise it can lead to more problems. When the lower wisdom teeth are removed you need to abstain from physical exercise. It is necessary to stay away from intense physical activity for at least 10 days.

Signs You Should Stop Exercise

Once you have waited for a proper amount of time, starting exercising may become easy. However, you need to stop if you feel any strong symptoms. Here is how you should be careful:

  • Blood begins from the extraction site
  • The swelling seems to increase
  • You get a fever
  • Sutures come apart
  • Difficulty while eating, or talking
  • Feeling dizzy or headache
  • You need to visit an oral surgeon instantly

What Happens If You Start Exercising Too Soon?

Exercising is normally good for your overall health and body. However, when you get oral surgery it is better to take it slow. It is necessary to heal fully before jumping into intense activity. If you plan to start exercising too soon it can prevent you from healing quickly. It can lead to pain and bleeding and may even cause a dry socket. A dry socket is a condition where the blood clot may hinder nerve activity. This usually leads to infection and other problems.
