The average price of electricity for regulated rate customers drops this Monday to 11.71 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), 45.51% less than the 21.49 euros/MWh the day before.
In the auction, the average price of light in the wholesale market -the so-called pool- has been located at 13.22 euros/MWh. The minimum price, of 3 euros, will be given between 1:00 and 2:00 and 3:00 and 5:00, while the maximum price will be between 20:00 and 21:00, when it will be 34.20 euros.
Compensation for gas companies is added to this pool price, which must be paid by consumers who are beneficiaries of the measure, consumers of the regulated tariff (PVPC) or those who, despite being on the free market, have a indexed rate, which for this Monday stands at -1.51 euros/MWh.
The Cap on Gas Makes Electricity Cheaper by 72%
In the absence of the Iberian exception mechanism to cap the price of gas for electricity generation, the price of electricity would be 42.89 euros/MWh, which means that customers of the regulated rate will thus pay 72.7 % less than average.
The Iberian mechanism, which entered into force on June 15, limits the price of gas to an average of 48.8 euros/MWh for a period of twelve months. Specifically, it sets a path for natural gas from 40 euros/MWh in the initial six months and a monthly increase of 5 euros/MWh until the end of the measure.
