Mirabal Belgium called on Wednesday to take to the streets on Sunday, November 26, to demonstrate against all forms of violence against women.
Mirabal formulates her demands within four areas of struggle: the fight against gender-based violence against women, taking vulnerable women into account, the appreciation of ‘feminine’ professions and sectors and sexual and reproductive health.
“Despite the ratification of the Istanbul Convention (on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, ed.) and other steps forward – the historic femicide law and the six additional Sexual Violence Care Centers – the figures prove that this still not enough,” Mirabal criticizes. Since the beginning of this year, 24 feminicides have already been counted in our country.
The umbrella organization expects approximately five thousand people. The march starts at 2 p.m. at the European Crossroads, at Brussels Central Station. It is the seventh time that Mirabal is organizing the march, on the occasion of the International Day against Violence against Women, on November 25.
