The Brussels police arrested two soldiers last Saturday. This is reported by Het Nieuwsblad and confirmed by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office to BRUZZ. The soldiers were in possession of a considerable amount of ammunition, probably stolen from the army.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, residents of Archimedesstraat in Brussels informed the police on Saturday because they saw two men firing guns from an open window. The police immediately arrived and entered the house. There she found two soldiers, brothers.

The weapons seen by the local residents turned out to be only airsoft weapons (air guns), but in the apartment the agents found more than two hundred pieces of war ammunition, intended for submachine guns. They were probably stolen from the Belgian army.
“We can confirm that two men were arrested and deprived of their freedom,” said the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. “A quantity of ammunition was found in the house. After questioning by the police, the two persons were released. The investigation is ongoing.”
