The Center for Fine Arts Bozar opens the roof terrace of the iconic building on the Mont des Arts with a new concept. During the summer months, twenty Brussels partners will take over the rooftop of Bozar to turn it into their own artistic place. The first installation allows the public to enjoy mist showers, shade and a place to picnic.
Last year, Bozar opened its renovated roof terrace for the first time, then as a rooftop bar under the name Solar Rooftop. According to Christophe Slagmuylder, director of Bozar, the new concept for the roof terrace should “symbolize a new wind blowing through Bozar”. For example, the opening of the roof terrace should demonstrate that Bozar “is a lively house for the arts, with not only an artistic but also a social project that is firmly anchored in the urban fabric”, according to Slagmuylder. “A first step of where we want to go even more in the future.”
During the first period from 5 to 21 July, the terrace will be open to the Brussels design agency Every Island. With their artistic installation ‘Scaffolded Skies’, the public can enjoy refreshing mist showers, shade and a place to picnic.
In the second period it is the turn of socio-cultural partners to provide the new interpretation. From August 23 to September 19, they will transform the roof terrace into an animated public square, with a daily changing program of concerts, lectures, film screenings and workshops.
Finally, from 13 to 19 September, the official start of the season will follow. In addition, artistic events will take place in the Palace for five days. The roof terrace is then accessible for a Club night, a family day on Sunday and film screenings, among other things.
The full program can be consulted on the Bozar website.
