The company of D’n Oprechte Leugeneer consists of notable representatives of various associations and municipalities from Belgian and Dutch Limburg, all coming together to celebrate the joyous occasion.
Mayor Broers Takes the Crown
Mayor Huub Broers of Voeren was crowned as this year’s recipient of ‘D’n Oprechte Liugeneer’. Among the festivities, which included the accompaniment of a lively wind band, approximately 170 attendees from neighboring municipalities gathered to witness the appointment of the esteemed candidate. Mayor Broers, renowned for his affable nature and playful spirit, delighted the audience with a spirited speech, adding vibrant colors to the afternoon’s festivities.

In addition to Mayor Broers’ accolade, Alderman for Culture William Nijssen was also humorously inducted into the ‘order of lies’, adding to the jovial atmosphere of the event. Following the presentation, a reception was held in the council chamber, symbolizing Voeren’s enthusiastic embrace of the carnival spirit.
