VVC drivers will demonstrate in Brussels on Monday against their ‘unfavorable’ status

The VVC drivers (rental of vehicles with driver) will demonstrate in Brussels on Monday morning to denounce their change in statutes. It dates from June 2022, but contains “no benefits, only limitations”, the Belgian association of limousine drivers said on Sunday. “This ordinance was supposed to unite the sector, but that is not the case,” regrets chairman Fernando Redondo.

The drivers will meet at the Brussels North station at 8.15 am. From there they go to the headquarters of Brussels Mobility and then to the cabinet of Brussels Prime Minister Rudi Vervoort. The event is scheduled to end just after 1 p.m.

The drivers have a list of requirements. Due to the increased fuel prices, they want, among other things, a revision of the minimum and maximum rates. In addition, there are also problems with the self-employed status. Furthermore, the VVC drivers also want access to certain places that are now reserved for taxis.

“Thanks to the Good Move plan, we now take 30 minutes on a route that previously took us 10 minutes. While the price has remained the same. So we want the Prime Minister to come up with solutions,” says Redondo.

The Belgian Association of Limousine Drivers estimates that around 100 to 150 drivers will participate in the event.
