Brutal Assault Unfolds as Onlookers Stand Powerless

On Wednesday morning, two people were attacked by a man in the Pelikaanstraat in the center of Brussels. The victims were taken to hospital, but their injuries are not life threatening. This is confirmed by the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police zone. The perpetrator has not yet been arrested.

Two people, a man and a woman, were attacked on Wednesday morning, around 5:30 am, by a man in the Pelikaanstraat, in the Alhambra district, in the center of Brussels. The victims have been taken to hospital, but their life is not in danger.

On images of an eyewitness that BRUZZ was able to view, two victims lie unconscious on the floor, while the perpetrator continues to kick them roughly on the head. Residents of the street yell at the man to stop, after which he also starts to swear at them.

“I was sleeping in bed when I was suddenly awakened by noise in the street,” says a local resident. “When I looked through the window, I saw a youth kicking two people in the face while making homophobic statements. The victims appeared to be in critical condition. Fortunately, the police arrived fairly quickly.”

According to the local resident, this is not the first time that violence has been committed in his street. “You see a lot of street prostitution here, at night I often hear screaming,” it sounds. “I hardly dare to go outside.”

The perpetrator has not yet been arrested. “When our patrol arrived on the scene, the suspect was not found,” says Ilse Van de Keere, spokesperson for the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police zone.
