200,000 Euros For Multilingualism In The Cultural Sector

in Belgium News

At the initiative of Minister Sven Gatz (Open VLD), responsible for the Promotion of Multilingualism in the Brussels Region, the government is launching the call for projects ‘Betalky.brussels 2023-2024’. The government has 200,000 euros to distribute to Brussels organizations in the cultural sector.

Culture can play an important role in bringing together the different communities living in Brussels, the government argues. Cultural exchanges thus make Brussels liveable as a multicultural and multilingual city.

For this reason, the government is looking for organizations that respond to concrete needs through a cultural project. Organizations participating in the call must promote and strengthen multilingualism in the cultural sector.

This call for projects includes all possible artistic and cultural forms and expressions, such as theatre, concert or expo. An organization can focus on multilingualism by organizing events or by improving access to cultural activities for non-native speakers.

Third Project Group

This is the third call for projects within the framework of the promotion of multilingualism in Brussels. The previous calls were aimed at organizations and associations active in the field of multilingualism in general and multilingualism in the business world. The budget provides for 200,000 euros for each project call.

The call for projects is an implementation of the policy memorandum ‘Promotion of Multilingualism’ by Minister Gatz, which was approved in December 2019 in the Brussels Parliament.
