Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – If you’re curious about whether is digital nomad visa is worth it, then you’ve come just to the right place. The “digital nomad lifestyle” has become extremely popular among remote workers due to the rapid development of technology centered on remote work, a workforce that is experienced in working from home. It has several pros and cons that you can look at below. Though, the final say would be that it is recommended that you get digital nomad visa because of the several opportunities it opens up.

Should I be a Digital Nomad?

A remote employee is not the same as a digital nomad. Most of the time, a worker or employee who works from home or in a co-working space is tied to a specific location with a safe and secure internet connection. In contrast, digital nomads can work from anywhere as long as they have access to their work supplies. So, it depends if you want to be a digital nomad or not but it is definitely recommended as it has several benefits but make sure to look at its cons too!

Is a Digital Nomad visa worth it?

People who are location-free, also known as digital nomads, remote workers, or independent workers, are able to work from anywhere in the world and are not confined to a single location.

Digital nomads typically work from any location with an internet connection, including apartments, coffee shops, restaurants, co-working spaces, and internet cafes.

Advantages of a Digital Nomad

Young millennials with laptops in hand sipping cocktails on a beach are what come to mind when we think of digital nomads. It is true that becoming a digital nomad has advantages for many people.

1. Co-Working spaces

Digital nomads can work from anywhere in the world in co-working spaces, which is preferable to working in an office. Digital nomads now have access to co-working spaces where they can collaborate with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultural perspectives and make new friends.

2. Remote working

People have the chance to see new places they wouldn’t normally see on short vacations because they can work from anywhere. Long-term travel is typically associated with the digital nomad lifestyle, which often entails exploring regions of the world that are not necessarily on their bucket lists. Additionally, it permits employees to leave one location for another if they do not like it.

3. Local economies

Long-term tourism boosts local economies because people naturally spend money on travel and daily living expenses. As a result, developing nations that are attracting digital nomads from more developed nations can benefit greatly from this.

4. Decreased cost of living

People can find lower-priced places to live thanks to the digital nomad lifestyle. People who are able to choose where they want to live can save money and live more lavishly than they could in their home country because their money goes further.

5. Better well-being

Being a digital nomad can improve well-being and make people much happier if they despise the 9-to-5 lifestyle and want to be able to work from anywhere. People can feel as though they are constantly learning and growing as they have new experiences and are pushed outside of their comfort zones in the nomadic way of life, which can be more fulfilling and rewarding.

Disadvantages of a Digital Nomad

Just like the advantages, it has several disadvantages too that are listed below. Following are a few of its cons:

1. Lower productivity

When you have the opportunity to explore a new city, beaches, or other exotic destinations, becoming a digital nomad can be even more challenging for those who already struggle with staying focused when working from home. When working and traveling at the same time, many people will find it difficult to stay productive.

2. Budget Issue

Because digital nomads are always moving, it can be hard to plan and budget because they will likely have to deal with different currencies and different standards of living.

3. Legal complications

It is simple to accidentally misunderstand or be unaware of certain local laws as a digital nomad. While working from your laptop may appear to be legal, you could be breaking immigration and tax laws.

4. Emotional aspect

Loneliness and isolation are two common emotions experienced by digital nomads. After a lot of traveling, it can be hard to be far from family and friends. It is unlikely that digital nomads form lasting relationships with others due to their frequent travels.
