The permit application should be made in the spring after consultation with the inhabitants. The renovations should begin at the end of 2022, or even at the beginning of 2023. But, by the end of the work, the street should remain limited to 10 km/h.

Earlier this month, Anderlecht had approved the circulation plan for a first car-free neighbourhood. As a result, many new squares will be created in Cureghem beginning this summer. With the Bergensesteenweg, the main through-axis will be left untouched for the time being.
As part of the regional mobility plan Good Move, the Region and the Brussels municipalities want to make all residential areas car-free by 2030. This is done by blocking through traffic. Every year, five of these districts are to be added.
