You may have heard about the new COVID travel restrictions in Portugal in 2022, but are you sure they apply to you? The country has been hit hard by the recent pandemic of the COVID virus, and has put in place strict guidelines whenever necessary. There are currently 1,151,919 cases of infection and 18,458 reported deaths. You should check your local health department’s website for updated information on the latest Portugal COVID travel restrictions.

The latest restrictions include a mandatory 10-day quarantine for visitors who have a positive COVID test. You may be required to stay in the country until the quarantine period ends. If you are a U.S. citizen, you must complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine. However, the order for work-from-home and nightclubs will remain in place until Jan. 14, 2022. The new regulations will also require all air passengers to have negative results before they can enter the country.

If you are traveling as a U.S. citizen, you need to be prepared for the new restrictions in Portugal. While the new Covid travel regulations are less stringent than in previous years, you should still take the necessary precautions to avoid any problems. The first step is to make sure that your travel insurance is current. It will protect you against unforeseen expenses and provide peace of mind. And don’t forget to plan ahead.

As of December 1, the mandatory COVID test will be required for all flights to Portugal. This requirement applies to EU citizens traveling for non-essential purposes, but does not apply to tourists. The COVID test will only be accepted for European citizenship. Furthermore, your expired Portuguese document will have to be valid until December 31, 2022. This is valid for residency certificates, passports, and visa permits issued by the Portuguese government. Remember to submit an appointment with SEF before you leave your home country.

You can still enter the country without a permit if you are a U.S. citizen or EEA-associated state. In addition, if you are an EU citizen, you must have an EU Digital COVID certificate. The government also requires you to submit proof of vaccination. Depending on where you are traveling, you must have proof of your vaccination and the date of your arrival. Moreover, the country will enforce the requirement for an appointment with SEF in advance.

It is also important to note that Portugal continues to maintain the COVID-19 vaccination requirements as of Dec. 10. You must have a COVID test, which is a non-recipient COVID vaccine. It is also necessary to carry a valid passport and a Passenger Locator Card for all travelers. If you live in the country, you may also be subject to mandatory testing at the airport. You may be quarantined until your COVID test is negative.
