Andorra (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Are you interested to learn about the greatest places to live in Andorra? Then you’ve arrived at the correct spot because this article will tell you about a variety of areas to live in Andorra. There are many lovely and safe locations to visit in Andorra. Keep reading to find out more!

Options for the best place to live in Andorra

Andorra is a tiny but picturesque sovereign principality located between Spain and France in the Pyrenees mountains. Andorra la Vella is the capital city, and Catalan is the official language. Andorra has a high standard of living, a robust health and education system, a tax haven status, which allows for duty-free shopping, and superb ski resorts.

The vast bulk of Andorra’s territory is wild. Natural parks, woods, lakes, and mountain peaks abound across the country. Surprisingly, the principality has two heads of state, or co-princes, the bishop of Urgell and the President of France.

Following are a few options for you to consider:

  1. La Massana

La Massana parish has most of the English-speaking community, which is concentrated in the northern settlement of Arinsal. It is also a haven for outdoor lovers, with climbing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, skiing, and other activities available. The town is also well-served by supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, and schools, so you won’t need to go to neighboring villages very often.

It is near Spain and the Vallnord ski and biking resort. For English expats who do not speak Catalan or Spanish, Arinsal is the greatest alternative. Bike aficionados, on the other hand, may appreciate Els Oriosis of Anyós due to its closeness to major riding routes.

  1. Canillo

Canillo is a community based on agricultural and artistic traditions. It’s the least populated part of Andorra, but tourists make up for the small number of residents during the high season. History buffs will find plenty of historic sites in the old town and picturesque scenery further up the mountain slopes.

If you live in Canillo, you can easily access the Grandvalira ski area by signing up for one of the many hiking trails, mountain biking, snowshoeing or gondola connections. You can opt (for) one of the higher quality properties in Val d’Incles or Carretera de Montaup, or the cheaper option in El Forn which feels like an entirely other world.

  1. Andorra la Vella

Andorra la Vella’s capital is where you’ll find everything. It is Andorra’s busiest city, yet it is extremely tranquil in comparison to other big European towns. Possibly this is why the majority of expats chose to reside there. Everything is within walking distance, including supermarkets, banks, schools, restaurants, pubs, and retail centers.

Furthermore, all government institutions are housed there. You won’t need a car to get about, and if you’re in a rush, you can take advantage of Andorra’s superb public transportation. Every year, several events are conducted in Andorra la Vella to keep the inhabitants engaged.

The city is largely made up of flats, but you may also choose one of the charming villas and chalets on the calmer northern side, which also has a great open view of the city.

  1. Escaldes Engordany

The lovely Escaldes-Engordany, often known as “Les Escaldes,” is located just adjacent to Andorra la Vella. Because you have the advantage of being close to the capital, you will be able to obtain the very same advantages as if you lived in Andorra la Vella. The town is one of the most developed in the country, and its people enjoy the convenience of a big shopping center, hospital, contemporary apartments, a thermal spa resort, and a variety of exciting events that take place throughout the year.

  1. Encamp

Encamp is the place to be if you want simpler and less expensive living in a well-serviced community. Encamp, known as the working-class parish, is located near the French border, has gondola accessibility to the Grandvalira ski resort, and is less expensive than most other towns in Andorra. There, Portuguese is commonly spoken.

Schools, banks, shops, pubs, restaurants, and a well-equipped gym are all available. Furthermore, the settlement of Encamp is an ideal combination of modern and historic buildings. However, the settlement is densely inhabited, which makes it noisier than other areas in Andorra.
